A CALL FOR DISCIPLINE: THE IMPEACHMENT OF ONE OF THE NPHR HONOURABLE MEMBERS

On 7th November, the 15th assembly of the legislative arm of the Association held its 3rd emergency sitting. The main agenda for the sitting was the cultural night budget which wasn't concluded upon at the last sitting. Under the A.O.B session, one of the things discussed is the discipline among members of the legislative, and as a result of this, four members of the legislative were fined, three members, Hon. Motunrayo, The chief whip of the house and theclerk of the house were fined the sum of #3000, and Hon. Israel ws fined the sum of #1500. Hon. Motunrayo was fined for absence from the previous sittings, while others were fined for lateness.

A memo was released to the general public on Friday, 7th November, stating the impeachment of one of the honourable members, Hon. Harriet, from the 400-level constituency. According to the memo and the notification released yesterday, the impeachment was due to absence from sittings three times consecutively. This action follows a warning and is also in line with the Constitution, Article 20, subsection 2.
