A REVIEW OF THE GESTALT AGENDA: AN INTERVIEW WITH THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY

Pressman: I'm Aanuoluwapo from PsychLens. Can you please introduce yourself?

Financial Secretary: Okay. My name is Okusaga Omolola:

Pressman: You've been the financial secretary for one semester now. How has the experience been for you?

Financial Secretary: It has been a really nice experience. Dealing with people, relating with them, getting people to pay their basic dues and getting their receipts. I would say it has been an interesting experience. A little stressful but interesting.

Pressman: Alright. What challenges have you faced in carrying out your duties and how have you been able to manage them?

Financial Secretary: One of the challenges I faced in carrying out my duties is making people come to get their basic dues receipts earlier in the semester before the exam periods because as a student myself I was looking for a way of settling that part of my duties in a way that won't affect my exams or reading schedules.

I managed that challenge by setting a deadline for people to get their receipts. And while I won't say it worked totally, I would say it was 60% effective because I still had to give people their receipts during my TDB and after my exams as well.

Pressman: Okay. In your manifesto, you mentioned that you will make use of electronic software and apps in keeping accurate financial records of the organization. How has that been for you? Or how easy has it been for you to do that?

Financial Secretary: I would say that I just started with that part of my record keeping because last semester I mainly used it in getting people who have paid their dues and issuing receipts. However, this semester I've started documenting on  Microsoft Excel using the names of those who have paid and gotten their receipts.

Pressman: How does working with other executives feel like? Would you say it has been easy working with them?

Financial Secretary: Yes actually. I'm really grateful for how easy it is to work with them.They are always there when I need explanation on something most especially the Treasurer, the President and the AGS as well. They really made my work in the position quite easy.

Pressman: Alright. You also mentioned in your manifesto that you will work with the PRO to provide financial tips to NAPSites. How is that coming along?

Financial Secretary: Yes I would be doing that this semester as well.

I already sent out an awareness letter on how it would be done fortnightly. So the first financial tips write up would be out by the 6th week

Pressman: Alright. We would be expecting that. What new thing about leadership did you learn whilst occupying this position?

Financial Secretary: Yeah sure. I learnt that in leadership you cannot satisfy everyone and everyone can not satisfy you.

People are dynamic in nature and sometimes even with a deadline they would still do whatever they like.

I also learnt that sometimes people who are wrong would insult you for trying to tell them that they are wrong and because you are a leader you have to accept it and find a better way to deal with the situation or just ignore them.
