AN INSIGHT INTO THE VICE PRESIDENT ASPIRANT’S INTENTION

By VICTORIA ADEUSI

INTERVIEWER: I am Victoria Adeusi, a pressman from Psychlens. Can you introduce yourself, sir

Mr. Samuel: My name is Akinwande Samuel Oluwadamilare, a 200-level student of psychology.

INTERVIEWER: Nice meeting you Mr. Samuel.

You are currently running for the post of Vice President of Naps, What inspired you to vie for the post sir?

Mr. Samuel: I got inspired to run for this post because of my love for academics which was born out of my passion for psychology. Even though many students have passion for our course of study like I do, they are finding the aspect difficult, I want to bring in different innovations and ideas that will make studying easier and more interesting for all Napsites.

INTERVIEWER: So what are the different innovations and ideas, and how will they make a difference?

Mr. Samuel: To mention a few of them, first I intended to create a community for Napsites who are interested in coming together and studying based on agreed milestones. These students will have a person in charge of them to make sure they are on the right path.

Also, NAPS has always organized tutorials, this will be continued, employing competent Napsites with good track records to do the teaching. The tutorials will be supported by brainstorming sessions and mock exams.

All these and many other things will be implemented to achieve the goal.

INTERVIEWER: What do you understand about the duties of the VP of the NAPS association?

Mr. Samuel: According to the constitution, the Vice President is meant to assist the President in the day-to-day administration of the association. Also, the Vice President is meant to head the Educational Development Committee and work with the social director to organize the NAPS annual dinner.

INTERVIEWER:  Do you have any experiences or qualifications that make you fit in for the position

Mr. Samuel: Yes, I do.

For one, I served as an honourable in the NPHR in the 2021/22 session.

Also, I have experience when it comes to tutoring. I have been a peer tutor since 100 level where I was opportune to help my classmates with courses they had issues with. Also, I have had tutorial sessions with the current 100-level students.

I also currently serve as the special adviser to the Faculty President on Freshers’ matters.

INTERVIEWER: Aside from your academic duties, how do you plan to manage other duties?

Mr. Samuel: Once elected, I plan to create a formidable team that will help me in accomplishing the plans I have so it won’t be just me doing everything.

My academics and official duties don’t have to affect each other once I set the priorities right and have a personal timetable to follow.

INTERVIEWER:  Thank you, Mr. Samuel, this brings us to the end of the interview.

Have a good night's rest sir.

Mr. Samuel: Thank you for the session ma. Have you good night’s rest too.
