AN INTERVIEW WITH MR. KINGSLEY ENYI, A GOLD MEDAL WINNER IN NIGER DELTA'S SPORT

Mr. Kingsley, a 200 level student of the department of Psychology is a Gold medal winner in the just concluded Niger Delta's sports festival, the first edition of the celebration of NDDC's 25th year anniversary. The sport festival which is an inter-state event hosted nine states which were: Edo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Abia, Bayelsa, Ondo and Rivers State. Mr. Kingsley was one of the player from cross river state which he represented in Scrabble game.

17 different sports were held at the event and Scrabble was one of the sports. The scrabble involved two events, Singles and Doubles event.

In the singles event, each state brought 2 players which gave a total of 18 players in the field and each player played individually. After 15 rounds of play, Mr. Kingsley came first and clinched the gold medal with 12 wins and +1450 cumulative spread.

In the doubles event, the two players from each state played together as a team which gave a total of 9 teams. After 12 rounds, Mr. Kingsley’s team won 7 games and came 5th.

Pressman: I am Victoria Adeusi, a Pressman from Psychlens Press. Can you please introduce yourself?

Mr. Kingsley: I'm Kingsley Enyi

Pressman: Congratulations on your win in the just concluded NDDC's 25th year anniversary.

Can you tell us how you got to know about it and how you got selected?

Mr. Kingsley: I got the information from our Scrabble circuit and I expressed my interest in competing.

I had to travel down to Calabar for the state qualifiers and after that we camped for some days and went to Uyo for the main event

Pressman: Ok. 

Did you have opponents and what were the criteria for selection

Mr. Kingsley: Yes. I had opponents and the criteria was that; you had to come from one of the NDDC states and you must be under 25.

Pressman: When did you start playing Scrabble and are you a member of the school team.

Mr. Kingsley: I started playing in secondary school in 2015. I was a member of my school team and I am currently a member of UI team.

Pressman: How do you feel about this victory

Mr. Kingsley: I'm very happy. This is my first major feat since I started playing Scrabble. I'm proud and happy to tell anyone about it.
