AN INTERVIEW WITH THE ASPIRANT FOR THE POSITION OF ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY

By Blessing

INTERVIEWER: Can you please introduce yourself?

MR ONYEKACHI: Well my name is Emere Onyekachi, I'm a 100 level student of the department of psychology and I am vying for the position of the Assistant General Secretary for the Nigerian Association of Psychology Students, University of Ibadan.

INTERVIEWER: So, can you tell us a little about yourself?

MR ONYEKACHI: I'm a passionate student, who is interested in advocating and promoting mental health and its conversation. Showing up when necessary for the total progress of an event or gathering. A lover of football and someone with the zeal to create lasting impact.

Thank you.

INTERVIEWER: So, why did you decide to run for the position??

MR ONYEKACHI: I decided to run for the position of AGS because of my passion to serve. My passion to create lasting impact for a majority. And because I'd like to keep and promote the profound and incredible structure of the psychology Department. So what I'm saying in essence I'll like to promote, sustain and improve the growth of the wonderful NAPS family.

INTERVIEWER: What skill(s) do you think you have or possess that you think will help you with this position? Or is it just your passion alone that is your source of motivation??

MR ONYEKACHI: First and foremost. It's not just only passion and motivation.

I've gotten to work and I'm currently working with the sports committee as a member. So yeah, team work and corporation is something that is very important in any administration.

Also, I am one of the coordinators of the affairs in my class. And so far, our affairs this semester have been more efficient than that of the last. So I believe that I have learnt and grown with other people as well.

And that looking after the affairs of my class is related to looking after the department. And with this conviction, I believe that I have much to learn, but I also have much to give as well.

Thank you.

INTERVIEWER: Do you feel, you would do better than the current AGS??

MR ONYEKACHI: Well, I think so. Because every parent or anyone who would have a successor would pray for their children or successor to be better than them.

And so yeah, I'd still take advice from her and show efficiency, and with her help and that of everyone, I hope to be better than her.

INTERVIEWER: So, the least but not the last, if elected, what should Napsites expect from the office of the AGS?

MR ONYEKACHI: So they should expect someone that wants continuity of our values. Someone that is responsive and that is people focused.

So yeah, they should expect a smooth communication between the executive and the people.

INTERVIEWER: And how do you plan to do that?

MR ONYEKACHI: Well, there is consistent face to face interaction and connection with NAPSites where we could establish trust and familyhood and also share information and receive feedback from everyone. Because, feedback is necessary. How they are doing? What they don't understand and all.

And there is also an online WhatsApp/social media community where we converse, lay out information, receive feedback.

There is also collaboration with the General secretary and the executives making sure every plan, meeting or event goes well. Smoothly and efficiently. From the plan to how it is being executed

INTERVIEWER: So gentleman, we have come to the end of the interview, Thank you for your time and cooperation.
