AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT OF NAPS UI

PSYCHLENS PRESS: Good afternoon, my name is Oluwadarasimi, and I'll be interviewing you today.

This is an interview for NAPSites to get to know their Aspirants better, so we would start with you introducing yourself.

Could you please introduce yourself?

Presidential Aspirant: My names are Nnadozie Chukwuebuka Precious Major,

A 300-level student of the Department of Psychology, of the faculty of The Social Sciences

PSYCHLENS PRESS: Okay, thank you for that.

So, I just have a few questions for you. Can we proceed?

Presidential Aspirant: Yes, we can

PSYCHLENS PRESS: What would you say are your top priorities as an individual? And what would you say are your top priorities for the post you are vying for?

Presidential Aspirant: My Top priorities as an individual are centred on Purpose and in ways to achieve the purpose.

1. championing a revival of the communal spirit the association is known for.

2. Seeing an association where every voice matters

3. Betterment in the status quo of academic excellence.

4. Building collective capabilities in diverse areas like sports, Politics, Technology etc

PSYCHLENS PRESS: Have you ever held any leadership positions whether at the departmental level, Faculty level, or beyond/outside the University itself?

Presidential Aspirant: Yes.

At the Department level, I serve on the Social Committee.

In the University, I serve in the office of the PRO in the National Association Of Imo State Students, UI chapter.

Beyond UI..

I have served in the Position of A Manager, and A Creative Director in a reputable Fashion firm, "Unique and Fits".

I currently hold the position of  The Creative Director at The MajorClassics Brand.

PSYCHLENS PRESS: What made you decide to go for the office of the president of NAPS?

Presidential Aspirant: Thank you for this question.

I do hold a philosophy which says, "To be Great, You must be willing to serve"

This Position for me is purpose-driven, and purpose for me has "Service to People" at the centre.

I believe I have contributed meaningfully to this association in my little capacity, and with this capacity, I can give even more.

Through this position, the hand of my reach will be extended, I will be able to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the Association and the development of its members.

This evokes another philosophy of mine.

"Walk the earth, leave your marks".

Service to people is one way to achieve this

PSYCHLENS PRESS: In a few words, can you tell us what you deem excellence and success to mean?

Presidential Aspirant: Excellence and success for me in this course, will be creating an atmosphere where beautiful ideas thrive, where good ears are given to the voices of the People, and having great successors who will carry on with the vision and of course, better the course for A Greater NAPS.

PSYCHLENS PRESS: Do you believe that the department has been excellent and successful, or do you beg to say otherwise?

If you agree with either the former or the latter, how do you plan on maintaining this excellence and success if you assume the presidency, or how do you plan on achieving such?

Presidential Aspirant: I believe, Excellence and success mean different things to different NAPSites.

For me, I believe the department has been Excellent and successful, one aspect I'd like to touch on is the area of Social activities held in the current administration.

Which saw a good number of Napsites come out to participate, and of course, these events got good reviews.

Beyond Maintaining, is the idea to better this course.

I strongly believe there's room above the status quo, and that for me is the goal

One way will be to make sure Every Napsite is carried along in the proposed activities of the association and I will take into consideration feedback, which will help better the subsequent activities of the association.

Generally saying, that a good atmosphere where Napsites feel involved will emerge

This administration is Ours, and together we will see NAPS in her full glory again.

PSYCHLENS PRESS: Well, most people abstain from such executive positions in the department because it requires a lot.

How sure are you that you are ready to put in your best and your all for NAPSites if you are voted in?

Presidential Aspirant: Thank you for the question.

For me the drive is intrinsic, beyond recognition, is the urge to serve.

I believe the urge to serve is my most compelling factor.

Of course, this is a very demanding position, again this is a well-thought venture, and nothing short of my best in time and efforts will Napsites receive

PSYCHLENS PRESS: What is your vision for NAPS?

Presidential Aspirant: A Thriving NAPS in all ramifications

PSYCHLENS PRESS: Could you give NAPSites an insight into what you might have planned for them?

Presidential Aspirant: Embedded in Plans are;

1. Empowerment Programs for Napsites 

2. Means to bridge the gap between levels and of course its benefits.

PSYCHLENS PRESS: How do you plan on fostering collaboration and engagement among NAPSites?

Presidential Aspirant: I believe the Plans I have will be of great benefit to Napsites, this will in turn yield engagements.

Also, this isn't an imposing-Administration,

I plan to, with the help of other influential Napsites, create a platform to Orient and re-orient Napsites, why this this more Our administration than it is mine?

And I believe, when people have a sense of belonging, this will foster collaboration and engagement.

PSYCHLENS PRESS: How do you intend to ensure transparency and accountability in your leadership?

Presidential Aspirant: Thanks for the question.

In this light, I would like to mention that part of my constitutional duties if elected, will be to summon a General Meeting where all interested Napsites will attend.

Here the financial activities/Statements of the association will be made known to all Napsites.

PSYCHLENS PRESS: Now, to our very last question. How do you envision the department evolving under your leadership in the next year if you are voted in?

Presidential Aspirant: Thanks for this question.

Under my Leadership, if voted in.

some of the ways I intend to evolve the department will be.

1. Implementing a training program

2. Strengthening communications amongst Napsites and among other departments in the Faculty.

3. Promoting diversity and inclusivity

4. Lastly I will engage actively with the community of Napsites.
