AN INTERVIEW WITH THE SENATE SPEAKER OF THE NAPS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE

PSYCHLENS PRESS: Can you please introduce yourself?

Speaker: My name is Ajibade Sunday Babatunde, a 300 level student of psychology University of ibadan where I also double as the Senate speaker of the National Psychology House of Representatives.

PSYCHLENS PRESS: What is the NPHR? Could you outline the structure and responsibilities of the NPHR for those who may not be familiar with it?

Speaker: The NPHR is the  National Psychology House of Representatives which serves as a checkmate body for the executive arm .

The duties and function of the house are  numerous but I be shortlisting them into

Deliberation during sitting , budget approval checkmating the excesses of other arms and proper vetting and acting as the representatives of the people by airing the Napsites opinion towards the executive body for proper response and action.

PSYCHLENS PRESS:What are your roles as the speaker of the NPHR?

Speaker: As the speaker of the house my functions are simply to oversee the affairs of the house, summon both the normal sitting as well as emergency sitting when needed, append my signature to the minute after it has been approved as well as the attendance list for honourable members.

PSYCHLENS PRESS:What do you believe sets you apart making you an ideal speaker of the NPHR?

Speaker: My beliefs and passion.

Am a passionate individual and there no function or task I have ever undertaken without the willpower to give it my all

Together with my beliefs which drives me forward and the leadership drive I have over time cultivated .

Are the core things which sets me out in my position as the speaker

PSYCHLENS PRESS: Can you share some of your key priorities and initiatives for the session considering the position you hold in the NPHR?

Speaker: My priority is ensuring napsites trust in us as honourable members are not misplaced .

Fostering growth a cordial workplace relationship between the organs and ensuring order is attained .

My position as the speaker is an initiative to Foster all I believe possible so together with my fellow honourable members I believe we can help move the department forward with our various skills , beliefs and passion for the department

PSYCHLENS PRESS: How do you manage your responsibilities being the speaker of the NPHR, and being a 300 level student of the department?

Speaker: Passion and desire to serve .

In my 200 level days I served as the constituency leader of the NPHR and like I have always done and still desire to do in the position of the speaker. Since my desire to serve is stemming from that of love I create a sort of balance by dividing my time into days I focus primarily on my work and also life . Having a strong vibrant principal officers the workload is not as heavy as it should be as my members are supportive and ready to work when the demand is needed

PSYCHLENS PRESS: There was an opinion article regarding the first official sitting of the NPHR, which I do believe you have seen. Can you please provide your perspective on this and any steps you've taken or plans in order to work on what was addressed?

Speaker: I love the fact that our press are in fact working tirelessly well and are active. The press do air their thoughts and they are well noted. I only ask that you also give the opportunity for the honourable members to also discharge their duties well. The house is well suited and plans and procedures are already put in place even before the advent of the article. And for this reason, I can assure the press as well as fellow NAPSAites that the house should be allowed firstly to discharge their duties first

PSYCHLENS PRESS: How do you think you can promote collaboration and effective communication among members of the legislative house, as well as with the executive members of the department?

Speaker:The house leadership is currently in talks with different levels  in the house.

An official letter has also been written to each level course rep to ensure their members are serving them well.

The house is one and United and that is the core value and principles we abide by.  Now for the aspect of the executive body.

No one is out to antagonise anyone. We all want what is best for the department and napsites so they do their work and we do our work with the mindview of the betterment of NAPS and this I believe is the way forward .

PSYCHLENS PRESS: In what ways do you see the legislative house contributing to the growth and development of the department as a whole?

Speaker: The legislature the backbone of the department if you ask me

Our deliberation are what ensures equity and equality.

Our deliberation is what ensures proper representation of different levels as well as their views and opinions.

Our time and efforts ensure growth and development because we are the champions of growth and also the machinery In which growth takes place.
