BEAUTY, IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER

By Anderson Grace

How do we really explain beauty? Do we say it's about a person's looks or their experience? Let's say it's about one's knowledge. Beauty is all about these and not just one of them. It appears in how you dress, act, think, and see yourself. Beauty is the aggregate of qualities in a person or things that please the senses or pleasurably exalt the mind or spirit. From this definition, we do not see beauty as a single attribute but as a combination of attributes.

The importance of beauty was once exaggerated because how you look or act to other people is a perception of who you might be. The more you look beautiful (not only facial beauty), the more you feel good about yourself. There's a connection between beauty and self-confidence. This I'm sure many can relate to. For example, if you go to class and you're not confident in your appearance, you might not want to socialize with people that day.

It would be best if you didn't fixate only on your outer beauty but also your inner beauty. It would be best if you worked on maintaining both and, most importantly, focused on your journey. You need to accept the way you are, work more on yourself, and love yourself irrespective of your body size or shape. You might get compliments concerning your looks, and other times you don't. This is because people perceive beauty in different ways.

Everyone has their perception of beauty, but that is in no way a reflection of who you are. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Work on yourself, be able to solve problems, be a critical thinker, be smart, behave well, and do not neglect yourself. We all have dreams, pursue them and work towards them. Be confident in yourself. These, among others, are qualities of beauty.
