BREAKING NEWS: INEC, UI LIFTS ELECTION BAN for 2020/2021 Session

Three hours into the midnight of October 15, 2021, the Independent NAPS Electoral Commission (INEC), 2021 releases a statement claiming the lift of the election ban for the 2020/2021 Session.

Following the NPHR sitting held on October 8, 2021, Mr. Lawal Olatunji, the Returning officer from 300 Level, Miss. Oyediji Oluwayanmife Ideraoluwa, the Acting secretary from 100 Level, Mr. Victor Osho from 200 level, and Miss. Ebojudah Salome from 400 Level was presented to the NPHR as nominees for the INEC inauguration. However, due to lack of the fulfillment of financial obligation as a NAPSITES, Mr. Victor Osho and Miss. Ebojudah Salome was denied being a member of the INEC officials, allowing the Inauguration of only two members on this day.

On October 14, New nominees with the names, Mr.Turaki Oluwaseun Caleb from 200 Level and Mr. Olaleye Iteoluwakiisi David from 300 Level were presented to the NPHR and having confirmed that their financial obligation was deeply met, were Inaugurated as members of the INEC Committee.

Following their Inauguration, the newly inaugurated INEC officials held a meeting on October 14 and officially lifted the ban on the 2020/2021 NAPS Election. On the Official NAPS UI, 2021 WhatsApp group, INEC releases a statement on their decision at 3:23 Am. Their statement clearly stated the available offices that should be occupied by interested NAPSITES.

INEC stated that the post of The President, The Vice President, The General Secretary, The Assistant General Secretary, The Financial Secretary, The Treasurer, The Social director, and The Sports Secretary are the available executive positions. In addition to this, it was clearly stated that the post for the Assistant General Secretary is only opened to 100 Level NAPSITES. INEC furthered more to state that the Legislative arm of the Association is opened to 100 Level, 200 Level, and 300 Level interested NAPSITES.

INEC closed its statement stating that it will be disclosing any additional information concerning the forthcoming NAPS Election.
