Department of Psychology Hosts Insightful Orientation for Freshers

The department of psychology recently held an orientation program for freshers, aimed at giving them insight into University life and how to successfully navigate their way to success both in the department and the faculty at large.

In his speech, the Head of Department, Professor A. I. Alarape admonished the students to cultivate curiosity and actively be engaged in their academic journey by asking questions in areas that are unclear and seek deeper understanding. He also emphasized that students should see their classmates as collaborators rather than competitors by encouraging group study and discussion and a strong relationship amongst themselves.

The HOD also advised that fresh students should be free to reach out to their seniors especially the departmental executives who already have a better understanding of the environment and the possible challenges.

The President of the association, Miss Eberechukwu Kalu, then officially welcomed the new students to the department of psychology.

The undergraduate coordinator, Dr. Fasanu, oriented the students on key academic matters and general academic expectations, including course registration, exam rules and the requirements for graduation.

The major highlight of the program was the interactive question and answer session, where the students raised various concerns particularly about the process of change of names which was clearly addressed by the undergraduate coordinator.

The orientation program proved to be both enlightening and insightful, reaffirming the department's dedication to fostering excellence and commitment among her students.
