Department of Psychology Students Secure Adedeji Scholarship Awards

Two students from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of the Social Sciences, University of Ibadan, have been awarded the prestigious Adedeji Scholarship, standing out among numerous applicants across the faculty.

The recipients are the department’s Vice President, Idumah Marvelous, and PSYCHLENS PRESS Managing Editor, Ojo Deborah.

The Adedeji Scholarship is a competitive initiative open exclusively to 200-level students within the Faculty of the Social Sciences. It is designed to cover both tuition and accommodation fees for selected beneficiaries, providing substantial academic and financial support.

As part of the selection process, eligible applicants were required to meet specific criteria. To ensure fairness and equal access to information, all qualified candidates were added to a WhatsApp group, where they received guidance and insights on the application process.

The exercise officially commenced with an orientation held on Saturday, November 22, 2025. In the weeks that followed, applicants were guided through the necessary procedures and expectations required for selection.

At the official announcement on March 19, 2026, three recipients were named, exceeding the initially intended number of two awardees.

Notably, two of the awardees emerged from the Department of Psychology, while the third recipient was from the Department of Sociology.

This outcome underscores the academic excellence and active engagement of students within the Department of Psychology. Congratulations to the awardees on this remarkable achievement.
