NPHR Lifts Ban for 2021/2022 Elections, INEC Sets NAPS Candidacy Requirements.

On the 31st of March 2023, the NPHR lifted the ban on electoral activities for the academic session 2021/2022. This decision was made after a thorough evaluation of the situation.

In preparation for the upcoming elections, the INEC chairman, Mr. Idris, arrived at the NPHR sitting held at 11:00 am on the same day. His objective was to get the electoral ban lifted and to outline the requirements for contesting in an election following the NAPS constitution, Article 14, section 14, subsection 6.

According to Mr. Idris, any aspirant vying for the post of president and vice president must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5, while other posts require a CGPA of 2.0. Aspirants for the post of the presidency, vice presidency, and general secretary must purchase forms worth #2,500, while other posts require forms worth #2,000. Form sales are to last for ten days, from the 31st of March 2023 to the 10th of April 2023.

Mr. Idris also encouraged the house members to participate in the elections and advised that they should be voted for into the house. After the evaluation, the electoral ban was lifted. Attached below is an official letter released by INEC officials. 

In other news, the Literary & Debate team of the department was revived after a long time of being dormant. The body's new President's inauguration and formalization took place, with Mr. Steven Robert assuming the seat.
