Pressman: Good day, I am Victor Alawode from Psychelns press
I would like to conduct an interview with you in respect to the position you are vying for.
Can you kindly introduce yourself?
Interviewee: I'm Chineye Cecilia Ike
I'm an 100lvl student in psychology department and I'm currently aspiring for the post of Assistant General Secretary (AGS) of our prestigious department
Pressman: Why do you think you are right for the position of the Assistant General secretary
Interviewee: I believe I'm right for this position because I have a deep passion for leadership and I strongly uphold values like good communication, responsibility and diligence which is an important tool in making the Secretariat of our department an efficient and better one and I must add that I also would love to be an active and not just passive member of NAPS
Pressman: What do you understand to be the key duties of an Assistant General secretary
Interviewee: To my understanding the duties of the AGS
are assisting the general secretary
Replacing the general secretary if he is absent
Presenting the NAPSUI assets to the NHPR
Being the secretary to the NAPS week committee
Pressman: What specific changes or improvements do you hope to bring probably a flaw in the current administration
Interviewee: I won't say a flaw but the plans and improvements I plan to do if I'm elected as the AGS of the department are
1. I'm going to work on revamping the help desk committee
2. I'm going to assist the association in conducting tutorials for NAPsites especially incoming freshers
3. Keeping students updated during exam and periods
Pressman: What is/are your strategies for ensuring transparency and effective communication
Interviewee: in order to ensure transparency and effective communication my plans would center around clarity ,consistency and connection.
Firstly by enabling feed back channels like Google forms were students can give their feedbacks which enables a two way communication
Secondly by collaborating with class representatives and Gen sec to give out efficient and true information relating to the Secretariat
Thirdly , proper documentation of tutorials or help desk issues that had been resolved earlier in order to ensure accountability
Lastly by creating a fresher's info pack for the upcoming freshers which would include all information they need and the contact info of Secretariat and other executives.
Pressman: You mentioned revamping the help desk committee earlier, what specific changes or improvements do you intend to introduce, and how will it better serve students?
Interviewee: The previous help desk committee wasn't as effective due to the fact that student didn't make use of the committee they rather prefer to meet and ask questions directly or through DM's so I plan on creating a certain day where students can ask questions or seek help from the help desk that way making the committee more effective for students.
Secondly by maintaining a pinned Help Desk FAQ document summarizing common questions and accurate answers so that anyone can access the information easily. This will make the Help Desk more active, inclusive, and reliable for students
Pressman: Alright
also, how do you plan to organize and sustain tutorials for NAPsites, especially freshers, considering academic schedules and volunteer availability?
Interviewee: They are already tutorials going on in our department I plan on sustaining them by partnering with seniors and students in our departments who are learned and willing to volunteer to tutor other students.
I plan on also creating a specific group for these tutors to ensure proper organization.
I can also discuss with the class representatives of the department to schedule days where students aren't attending classes according to the faculty's timetable which they can use to attend tutorials
Pressman: Ok thanks so much
Finally, what final message would you like to share with those that will be voting for you.
Interviewee: With your support, the Secretariat will be more than an administrative label it will be a friendly, reliable space that connects students with information and support. A Secretariat under my watch will be more transparent, responsive, and genuinely useful to the department
I commit to serving with honesty, visibility, and accountability. I will work diligently to ensure the Secretariat is a place where voices connect and where practical help is available to all
Join me in building a Secretariat that works for everyone.
Vote Ike Chineye Cecilia for Assistant General Secretary . For a Secretariat Where Voices Connect.
Pressman: Alright thank you so much for your time, and with this we come to the end of the interview.
