By: Oluwadarasimi Otunla

The NAPS UI health walk, titled "Mental Health Awareness Walk," held in collaboration with the ASIDO Campus network, kicked off at 9:30 am on May 25th, 2023, creating an atmosphere of anticipation and enthusiasm among the NAPSites present.

The event was graced by several notable individuals, including Mr. President Damilare, the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council, and various executive members such as the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Vice President, General Secretary, and Sports Secretary. Their presence added a sense of importance to the occasion.

NAPSites, accompanied by representatives from the ASIDO Campus network, set off on the walk, following a designated route that spanned several faculties. Starting from the Faculty of Social Sciences, they continued to the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts, and Science and concluded their journey at the SUB (Student Union Building) just before returning to the Faculty of the Social Sciences.

During the walk, NAPSites actively engaged with passersby, distributing informative fliers and initiating conversations about the significance of mental health. They emphasized the importance of speaking out and seeking help, promoting a supportive and empathetic environment.

To enhance the experience and maintain a lively atmosphere, music played through speakers, creating an upbeat and enjoyable ambiance throughout the walk.

The event concluded around 11:10 am when the participants arrived back at the faculty. As a testament to the success of the walk, numerous pictures and videos were captured, capturing the memorable moments and the overall spirit of the event.

The Mental Health Awareness Walk organized by NAPS UI, in collaboration with the ASIDO Campus network, proved to be a meaningful and impactful initiative that brought attention to mental health and encouraged open dialogue within the university community.
