INTERVIEW WITH IKE CHINEYE CECILIA, AN ASPIRANT FOR NAPS VICE PRESIDENT ROLE
by Deborah Ojo
INTERVIEWER: Can you kindly introduce yourself?
MISS CECILIA: My name is Ike Chineye Cecilia. I'm a 200 level student of Psychology and a current aspirant for the position of NAPS VP
INTERVIEWER: Last session, you were vying for the position of Assistant General Secretary. Now, you are aspiring for the role of NAPS Vice President.
What inspired this major shift and what are the skills that you have developed within this timeline to make you eligible for this new aspiration?
MISS CECILIA: Yes, last session I did run for the post of AGS and I lost.
This session I'm vying for the VP position.
I believe that leadership requires great service, and losing didn't discourage my drive to still serve NAPS
I used my time and skills to help in other areas in the department. For example:
Becoming a member of the Educational and Development committee for NAPS and becoming VP for NAPS LnD. Also becoming an Honourable and Constituency leader of the 200 level Constituency for NPHR
These experiences have contributed to my decision making and multi tasking skills and it helped enhance my leadership skill as well help make me versatile.
Lastly, It also let me have an idea of how an administration is run effectively
And I believe this makes me eligible for the position I'm currently running for.
INTERVIEWER: You have surely served NAPSITES over the last session.
What gaps have you noticed in the current administration, and how do you believe you would do better than the current Vice President?
MISS CECILIA: Well... I haven't noticed any major gap
What I plan to do is redefining some of the already established systems.
INTERVIEWER: Okay.
Can we get specific about these systems and how would these reflect in the plans you have for NAPSITES?
MISS CECILIA: One of the already built in systems I aim to redefine is the tutorials.
They've been some setbacks in organizing tutorials for students.
So, one of my aims is redefining those aspects.
INTERVIEWER: According to Section 11 of both Article 11 and Article 13 of the NAPS constitution, the Vice President shall be the chairman of the Educational Development Committee. How do you intend to redefine the EDC which is responsible for the tutorials and the tutorial themselves, if elected?
MISS CECILIA: No, I don't intend to redefine the EDC. Don't misinterpret my words Miss Deborah.
I plan on redefining some systems already built for tutorials
Due to the setbacks the EDC has faced.
For example in one of the items in my manifesto,
I plan on creating a game session during tutorials to ensure participation and attendance increases from NAPSITES. Prizes as well for students that do participate.
INTERVIEWER: That sounds reasonable.
We have come to the end of this interview.
Thank you for your time, Miss Cecillia
MISS CECILIA: Thank you, Miss Deborah.
