The NAPS, UI has made it a yearly practice to transfer political power successively from one administration to another through the election.
Therefore, given the 2021 forthcoming NAPS election, the independent NAPS electoral commission (INEC) released a statement on the 15th September 2021, stating the guidelines and eligibility criterium for the candidates.
According to INEC, candidates vying for the position of the President and Vice president and General secretary must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 and above. Candidates going for other executive and house of representatives’ positions are also expected to have a minimum of 2.0 and above.
In addition, all aspirants aside from the 100 level students vying for the post of Assistant general secretary, are to submit a clear copy of their academic transcript during screening before the election day.
Also, candidates are required to present three reference letters; one from their level advisor and two from reputable acquaintances.
INEC has clearly stated and warned candidates against defacing the faculty with their campaign posters and fliers, as this can result in disqualification if disregarded.
Knowing fully well that features of a democratic system are a free and fair election, aspirants are beseeched to be well mannered throughout the exercise, exhibiting no form of hooliganism as this would also lead to disqualification.
Therefore, let all candidates treat as important.
