LITTERS BELONG IN RECEPTACLES

On the 5th of April, 2023, sweep edge launched their project Green Campus Project whose sole aim is to control waste disposal. One of the strategies chosen to accomplish this goal was the placement of receptacles to each faculty. Most of the external dignitaries present at the program stated how they have wanted to visit UI, which has been proclaimed first and best, for a long time. The ambassador of the SWEEP FOUNDATION, Ambassador Philip attested to that fact and said "Indeed he has always heard about UI and now he has seen". He also added to his speech that they will be visiting five schools for the Global campaign project which are OAU, UI, UNIBEN, UNIPORT, and UNN. They also shared how they were ready to launch the project at UNIPORT but since UI was readily available and anticipating the project, they made adjustments to their schedule and decided to launch at UI first.

The priority of the event is to work towards the cleanliness of our society, which is the reason they have given receptacles to each faculty and with the availability of this, it is unreasonable to have the environment littered with rubbish. 

Attached to this project is a means of making money for students. There is an app called Trashcoin open for the collection of pens and bottles, when you have collected a substantial amount, you turn it in in exchange for a certain amount of coins which will be transferred to your account on the App. The coin can be converted and transferred to your account and you can also use it to buy electricity and carry out other purchases with the coin on the app. An incentive was also attached to the receptacles given to the faculties. The Coca-Cola representative said there will be an inter-faculty competition and the faculty with the highest number of pens and bottles will be rewarded. Therefore, as FATSSSAites, we are expected to make use of the receptacles properly and bring home the reward.

in the end, the receptacles should be put into use not just to bring home a reward but because it is the right thing to do, both for the faculty and for the environment. The receptacles were put there for use and should not be seen as ornamental decorations. If we can learn to dispose of our trash properly then together we can keep the faculty and our environment clean.
