NAPS WEEK KICKS OFF WITH THE OPENING CEREMONY
By FeBi
NAPS Week came upon NAPSITES in all its glory and promises to be one worth our while.
NAPSITES are scholars who would have been more interested in books—that was said on the basis of the 100-level students who were almost uninterested in joining the conference because of a class, but came because it was NAPS Week and still got engrossed in the conference to the point where they did not want to leave. The host, Sharon, had to ask, “Y’all don’t want to go?” Yes, because it was an interesting one.
The conference had a panelist session that included Mrs. Lydia, Miss Salome, and Mr. Ekene—a rich blend of experienced individuals carefully selected on the basis of their diversity and track record. The panelists provided not a one-way formula for attaining success as a psychologist outside the four walls of the school, but a foundational must-have: imbibing the habit of creating value wherever NAPSITES find themselves.
Their industry knowledge, practical experience, and passion for youth development birthed a robust and engaging dialogue, inspiring the people.
The session spinned off into a health talk, enlightening us on the most basic way to react when a person collapses and more. I believe it was done to ensure that we were not just aware of mental health as psychologists, but also of physical well-being.
A session on finances, facilitated by the department's Financial Secretary was given to groom NAPSITES into wholesome people—and that was just Day One!
Dare I say that the first day was just the tip of the iceberg?
