Napsites Excel in Extracurricular Activities

Gordon Adiele clinches the award for Best Speaker of the Debate.

On 8th September 2025, the Faculty of Sciences held its Interfaculty Bilateral Debate Competition at the Faculty of Sciences Lecture Theatre (FLT) at 3:00 p.m. The competition featured four other faculties—the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Technology, and the Faculty of the Social Sciences—each debating against the Faculty of Sciences.

The Faculty of the Social Sciences was represented by Adiele Gordon and Ayodele Oyinkansola Faith, who spoke against the motion “Standardisation of Indigenous Languages Has Done More Harm Than Good.” They emerged as winners of the round, with Gordon Adiele also clinching the award for Best Speaker of the Debate.

Judges present at the event included Babatimilehin Peace (current L&D President), Susan Olalusi (Awo Hall President), and Ademola Phocus (from the Faculty of Law).

The competition, themed “The Forge: Redefining Excellence,” drew an enthusiastic audience comprising students from the Faculty of Sciences as well as supporters from other faculties who came to cheer their representatives.

Notably, the Faculty of the Social Sciences emerged overall winner with the highest debate score of 74 points, alongside the award for Best Speaker.
