Pressman: Good morning ma.
Miss Temilade: Good morning, ma.
Pressman: How're you doing today?
Miss Temilade: Fine ma and you??
Pressman: I'm alright. Happy Resumption.
Miss Temilade: Wish you the same, ma.
Pressman: Are you ready for your interview with Psychlens?
Miss Temilade: We can go on ma.
Pressman: Okay then. Let's begin. Can you introduce yourself to NAPSITES, especially the new members?
Miss Temilade: My name is Idowu Gloria Temilade. I am a 300-level psychology student. I am the Vice president of the Psychology Department.
Pressman: Okay, Miss Temilade.
Miss Temilade: Yes, ma.
Pressman: While I'm pretty aware that you have shared a lot of your plans with NAPSITES during the manifesto night and, of course, the Press night. I believe some NAPSITES would love to be reminded about them and be assured about the feasibility of these plans. So, let's dive a little bit into that.
First, I'd love you to share the strategies or initiatives implemented to ensure a smooth transition into the new session for students and faculty.
Miss Temilade: Okay ma.
Miss Temilade: Thank you for the question, ma. The strategies or initiatives have started since Monday. We had a physical orientation with the freshers who are new to the system on what course they are to choose and the total units they are expected to offer at that level. For those who missed the orientation, FRESHER’S Welcome shall be done soon so everyone will be on the same page.
We are working on the tutorial process for us all to start as soon as possible. The session shall be a great one, having the other executives on the same page.
Pressman: Let's start with the freshers welcome. Has a date been set for that? Also, what's the plan to involve other organs of the department?
Miss Temilade: Thank you for the question, ma. Yes, ma'am, the freshers' welcome shall happen on the 1st of September, 2023. This date was picked in alignment with the decision of the HOD.
Alright, concerning the second question, I have not been working solely without the support of the other executives, and the legislative arm, including the HOD, is involved in the decision-making process on how this department shall progress.
Pressman: Okay. Now, let's move to the tutorials you are responsible for. Are any innovative teaching methodologies or technologies being incorporated into the tutorials in this session?
Miss Temilade: Thank you for the question, ma. Yes, ma, methodologies are being incorporated into the tutorial session.
For the tutorials, it is going to be done both physically and online across all levels. The online platforms have been created and are being worked on. I plan to have tutorials online where any NAPSITE can access material and explanations of each topic anytime; tutors can send explanations of a course or topics and practice questions to the platform.
And the physical tutorials shall be done also.
Pressman: You mean an online class?
Miss Temilade: There will be an online and physical tutorial class.
Pressman: Has the price of data subscription and network availability been considered?
Miss Temilade: Yea ma. The online one shall be a recorded session for any NAPSITE who wants to return to teaching anytime so that any NAPSITE can access it anytime. While the physical is the main plan, the online is going to be a backup plan anytime, any day. The data used shall be affordable.
Pressman: That's nice. Moving on, in what ways are you measuring the success of the tutorial plans and the overall progress of the new session?
Miss Temilade: Thank you so much for the questions. There will be a successful tutorial plan with the cooperation of every NAPSITES, great tutors, and good publicity, and all these measures are being worked upon.
Pressman: The question is more like how would you know the tutorial methods used are successful?
Miss Temilade: Oh okay ma. There will be a test to measure the effectiveness of the tutorial.
Pressman: Have you heard about feedback analysis, various types of feedback for teaching and learning?
Miss Temilade: I have not heard of this exactly, but I plan that there will be a test for the tutor to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. There will be a feedback form so that we can assess the effectiveness of the tutorial from the students' perspectives.
Pressman: You should go through the use of feedback. They can effectively help measure your success. I believe this will be quite helpful.
Miss Temilade: Okay, ma, thank you so much, ma.
Pressman: What challenges do you predict you face during your tenure, and how do you intend to fix them?
Miss Temilade: The only challenge I can predict for now is that the semester is a short one. We need to achieve the tutorial plan for the semester, and how I intend to fix it is the online tutorial plan, which is a backup plan that I mentioned earlier. Any other challenges that come up shall be fixed accordingly.
Pressman: Is there anything else you want to say to NAPSITES, ma'am?
Miss Temilade: I want to assure NAPSITES that the administration will best serve the department.
Pressman: Thank you very much for your time, ma. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Miss Temilade: My pleasure, ma. Thank you so much, too, for the opportunity. Enjoy your day too, ma’am.
