News: UI Health Services (JAJA) Shuts Down as NASU/SSANU Strike Cripples Campus Operations

The University Health Service, popularly known as JAJA Clinic, at the University of Ibadan has officially suspended operations following a joint directive from the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU)

The closure is part of the ongoing industrial action by non-teaching staff unions, which has significantly disrupted essential services across the university.

Students who depend on the university clinic have been advised to seek medical attention at designated alternative facilities.

These include the Police Clinic, Eleyele; the Military Hospital, Odogbo Barracks, Ojoo; Jubilee Hospital, Sango; and Ayoola Modupe Memorial Hospital, located on Adenuga Street in the Kogi area of Ibadan.

IndyPress gathered that the shutdown of the UHS was enforced by union leaders to ensure full compliance with the strike directive, which targets non-academic operations within public universities.

As of Tuesday, there is no scheduled date for the UHS to reopen. The suspension of health services underscores the deepening impact of the strike on the university's critical infrastructure
