Nigerians in Serious Turmoil as South Sudan Economic Crisis Elevates

The economic and political crises in Sudan have been in the headlines for the past two weeks. The clash, between the army and a rival paramilitary group, has left hundreds of people dead.

The fight broke out, as a result of a power tussle between the regular army and RDF. Due to Sudan's transition to civilian rule, both sides fear the loss of power of the state.

There have been diplomatic efforts by neighboring countries to at least have a truce, allowing people to flee to safety.

As the state of emergency lasts, about 512 have been estimated dead and almost 4,200 injured.

Nigerian students explain how food, water, and other basic amenities are difficult to access as one cannot leave their abode for fear of getting killed.

Sudanese and other foreigners are being whisked to safety. Nigerians are joyed as there has been provision made by the Nigerian embassy to get all Nigerians in Sudan back home.
