
NPHR HOLDS THIRD PLENARY SITTING

On May 15, 2026, the legislative arm of NAPS held its third sitting of the semester. Although scheduled for 12:00 p.m, proceedings commenced at 12: 20 p.m, following the resolution of logistical arrangements.
The sitting opened with a prayer and the adoption of the agenda. This was followed by the reading of the minutes from the previous sitting.
One of the key highlights of the session was the inauguration of new social committee members. Mr Faniran Joshua Olabamiji, Miss Joan, Miss Shalom, Honourable Damilola, Miss Olanipekun Basirat, Honorable Olamodi Ayomide were duly sworn in.
The Clerk of the House, in the person of Hon. Ebube Roberts, moved the motion that Mr Joshua should not be inaugurated, due to the fact that he came late, lacks the important details the Social committee entails and was not properly dressed as the sitting demands, which was seconded by Honourable Adetoyosi.
A counter motion was moved by Hon. Bamise, that he should be inaugurated, which was seconded by Hon. Praise.
A closed ballot voting was conducted by the Chief Whip to determine if Mr. Joshua will be inaugurated as a member of the Social committee.
The results were 4 votes of (No) over a 3 (Yes).
Furthermore, the PRO stepped forward to present his committee members, Mr Josiah, Mr Ayomikun, Mr Muyiwa, Honorable Praise and Mr Theophilus were duly sworn in.
Moving forward, The vice president, Miss Marvellous presented a budget for the upcoming NAPS EDC quiz competition, stating that the first runner up is getting #5000 and the second runner will get up to #3500 and third runner up is #2000. Printing of certificate was #3000, and the printing of the question paper for 30 student was #3000 and the total budget was #16500.
The house brought an idea that the printing of the questions can be reduced to from #3000 to #1200 and it was concluded that the total budget approved was #14700 stating that the executive members said that they will fund other expenses from their own pocket if it arises.
In a dual capacity, inauguration of the sport committee members was denied because the head of the committee was supposed to write a letter of apology for coming late beforehand, then he pleaded that he would send the letter after the sittings and his plea was accepted by the honourable members, so he presented his committee members, Miss Sandra, Miss Ebose, and Mr Akinfolawemi were duly sworn in.
The executive members presented a budget of #28550 that has been spent so far, the budget was approved and the sum of #28550 is to be paid back to the Executive members.
Under AOB, The NAPS President, Eberechukwu Kalu, in light of the Sanctions from the last meeting, pleaded for leniency in the sanctioning of the house members. She asked that sanctioning should be done at the 3rd time of members being late for sitting. The Speaker affirmed that the sanctioning applies to both the NAPS Executives and Honourable members
However, that fine still stands, having being reduced to 1000 naira from 2000 naira
And also, Honourable Gboyega noted that there are vacant positions for the 300 level and 400 level constituencies.
The sitting was adjourned at exactly 2: 17p.m.
