POLITICS: NNAGBORO CHINENYE VIVIAN
It is once again that time in the session when political campaigns are at its peak. As has always been the practice towards the end of every session. There is need for campaigns and elections in other for a new government to be formed. In order to ensure a smooth change of government both the electorates and the aspirants need to maintain decency in their political affairs.
It is important for aspirants to always maintain decency in their political affairs in order to prevent misleading the electorates. Aspirants who engage in activities like; defacing of school properties (whether for fun or in the name of campaigns), aggressive campaigning (threatening people for support), backbiting your opponent, writing false manifestoes, etc. are exhibiting political indecency.
Electorates can also exhibit political indecency when they; knowingly vote for the wrong candidate, destroying political posters out of malice, not voting during elections, etc. It takes both the aspirants and electorates conducting themselves in an appropriate manner for a smooth transition of government.
When it’s time for you to campaign for a candidate do it because they are qualified for the job and not because they are your friend. When you cast your vote ensure the person you vote can make the necessary changes needed. So that when the results are out you can say, you did the right thing and you brought the right person to power.
