Report On 4th Nphr Sitting For The Session

The meeting started at 12:25 pm. After reading the minutes of the last meeting, the speaker asked for the departmental president to report on the state of the association.

The president, Awe Albert Oluwadamilare made mention of the events that have taken place so far which are;

- Welcoming students and.

- Mini orientation for Freshers before the strike.

During the strike, some online activities took place which are;

- A program for entrepreneurs,

- A seminar on sales and,

- NAPS convention. He explained that on getting to the location for the NAPS convention, he found out that there were some disagreements between lecturers on the date of the convention. Eventually, the 21 students that went returned to their various destinations as none of the programs were scheduled to be held. He mentioned that a report from the investigative committee on the NAPS convention will be disseminated soon.

In addition, the president mentioned that things have been put in place and tutorials will commence by the following week.

The association had issues with the previous account at the first bank due to some new CBN regulations which are difficult for the association to meet up with and so, the association is working on opening a new account with GTBank which is the reason the association is making use of one of the executives accounts for now.

After the report of the association, the acting chief whip, Honourable Temilade was voted in by the house as the chief whip.

Moving on to the next agenda, the incurred expenses and proposed budget for executive offices were brought forward but due to the improper letterhead, fonts and presentations, they were asked to bring back a proper one and a committee was set up to look into the incurred expenses during the week.

The NPHR budget was also brought to the house. From the office of the clerk, the incurred expenses of 2,650 were given and she was asked to bring back a better-proposed budget which would be analyzed by the ad-hoc committee.

From the office of the deputy speaker, the incurred expense of 3,600 was given and the proposed budget of 47,740 which included data for the clerk, book for attendance, and welfare for house members.

During the presentation of the house budget, the president of the association pleaded for a possible reduction because of the financial state of the association but the motion was moved to leave the welfare amount at 300 per head for 16 members for a total of 12 sittings in a semester while working towards incorporating welfare for others present at the sitting into the constitution.

Furthermore, the proposed budget for the freshers' welcome was 42,999 but 38,550 was approved instead as some expenses were cut down. The president expounded on the plan of events for the freshers' welcome. It is going to be a 3-day program which will commence on Thursday, 10th November with games, a talkfest on Friday, and freshers versus stallites match on Saturday. 2,860 was approved for the match on Saturday to purchase water, glucose, and a whistle.

Lastly, an ad-hoc committee was inaugurated to scrutinize the budget for offices which will be returned after necessary corrections have been made.

The meeting ended at 5:41 pm with a total of 28 people in attendance.
