Should Our Personality Define Us?

EDITORIAL BY: ENIOLA FASE

Our personalities are what distinguishes us as individuals. Every individual has a unique pattern of persistent, long-term qualities and a way of interacting with other people and the world around them. Our personalities are regarded to be long-lasting, consistent, and difficult to change.

Using the excuse that our personality defines us allows us to avoid taking responsibility for our actions. Declaring that we define our personality removes any excuses and forces us to take responsibility. In other words, using the argument that our personality defines us as an excuse to blame our behavior on our surroundings or circumstances is a fallacy.

Our personality is defined by how we act and who we are. Our personality is made up of all of your individual elements, but it does not generate them. We believe that adopting this offers us more control over our actions (and, as a result, the world around us) and, as a result, a higher quality of life.
