Sports: PSYCHOLOGY SECURES CONVINCING 4-1 WIN OVER ARCHAEOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY IN SEALS CUP OPENER

The Department of Psychology delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology 4–1 in their Seal Cup ’26 group-stage clash held yesterday.

Psychology asserted dominance early, netting two quick goals in the opening stages of the first half to take control of the game. Temiloluwa Oyejide (No. 8) opened the scoring, before Israel Festus (No. 17) doubled the lead moments later.

Archaeology and Anthropology responded with a goal from the penalty spot, reducing the deficit. However, Psychology maintained composure and went into the break with a 2–1 advantage.

The second half resumed at exactly 1:03 p.m, with Archaeology and Anthropology pressing for an equaliser. Despite their increased intensity, Psychology’s disciplined defence and fluid attacking play proved decisive. Akinfolawemi Fasakin (No. 40) extended the lead with a third goal.

Psychology sealed the victory late on, as Dayo Ilori (No. 42) added a fourth goal, capping off a dominant display and securing a convincing 4–1 win.

The result highlights Psychology’s cohesive teamwork, positioning them as strong contenders in the competition. They are expected to return to action on Thursday, April 23, although the time and venue are yet to be announced.
