The Department Held Her Freshers' Orientation, Welcoming Freshers into the Department.

The department of Psychology held her freshers’ orientation on 5th of May, this orientation was held to properly informed the freshers and as well welcome them to the university of Ibadan. The event which began around 1p.m was graced with the presence of the Dean of the faculty, Prof. B. O Ehigie, The H.O.D, Prof. D. E Okurame, Prof. A. I Alarape, the Undergraduate coordinator, Dr. O. O Fasanu, Dr. F. B Olutola, and Dr. A. C Obosi.

The students were addressed by every of the distinguished lecturer presents and key points were given by them. The H.O.D, Prof. Okurame congratulates the students for choosing department of Psychology in the University of Ibadan stating that they have chosen the spring of knowledge. He further explained that the department product are the ones teaching at other schools and coming here has placed them at the direct source. He encouraged the students to afford themselves one of the lecturers as a mentor to guide and lead them. The U.G coordinator took the students through the process of registration and all that needs to be known as regards their courses. He as well encouraged them to be of good conducts and avoid anything that would jeopardize their academics and made them to understand the importance of success stating “Success does not jump on you, it is earned”.

The Dean, Prof. Ehigie encouraged them to be focused and emphasized the importance of knowledge making the students to understand that they shouldn’t be more concerned about first class than the knowledge they want to acquire. Prof. Alarape spoke about time management and emphasized how managing their time appropriately can make them productive. Dr. Obosi  addressed them on the issue of diligence which is vital for their excellence. Dr. Olutola cap the speech and spoke about understanding oneself and encouraged them to stay motivated.

Afterwards, the moderator moved on to the question and answer section where three students asked questions and they were addressed by the lecturers on sit. One of the questions was the volume of pages required for answers in exams “how many pages is adequate enough?”. The lecturers did justice to this and made the students to understand that what is required is not just volume but also writing in context, concisely and as well there’s a need to understand the lecturers for each course to know what is demanded. After attending to every other agenda, the Orientation came to an end past 3p.m.
