The Psychology/Sociology merged team were crowned Survival Cup champions on Wednesday, 16th September 2026, after edging out Maths/STE 2-1 in a keenly contested final at the Sub Old football pitch.
The day's fixtures got underway at minutes around 4:00pm, with the Psychology/Sociology - Maths/STE clash following shortly after.
Turning out for Psychology were Olaoluwa, Onyekachi, Chase, Bryan Jordan, Akinfolawe, Damiloju, and Akinmade Bello, with few students from Sociology also making up the squad.
Both sides played with real intensity from the opening whistle, trading chances in a tightly fought spell. Psychology/Sociology broke the deadlock through Adegbulugbe Ohunrere. Maths/STE leveled matters before the break, though, when a free kick caught out a Psychology/Sociologydefender he rushed to clear it, missed the ball completely, and it rolled beyond him into the net, sending the sides in at 1-1 at halftime.
Psychology/Sociology were the sharper side after the restart, and their pressure told when Fasakin Akinfolawemi found the net to put them back in front. Despite a late push from Maths/STE, the score held at 2-1 in Psychology/Sociology favor at the final whistle.
Wild celebrations followed as Psychology/Sociology were presented with the Survival Cup trophy and medals in recognition of their victory.
