UI Distance Learning Centre Introduces Physical Interaction Sessions for 3,000 Fresh Students, Sets August 12th for Matriculation

On Monday, June 22, 2026, the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre launched its five-week physical interactive session, beginning the 2025/2026 academic year with the formal orientation of approximately 3,000 newly admitted students at the PIFA Hall on campus on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

The physical interactive sessions, which run from June 22, 2026, through July 25, 2026, are an integral element of the Distance Learning Centre's hybrid Open Distance E-Learning model. These are followed by five weeks of virtual facilitation from July 27 to August 29, 2026, and the First Semester examination period from August 31 to September 26, 2026.

According to the Distance Learning Centre's academic calendar, course materials were available for download and self-study beginning on June 8, 2026, and registration remains open until August 14, 2026, with the Matriculation Ceremony scheduled for August 12, 2026.

The Distance Learning Centre offers numerous undergraduate programmes in various fields, including B.A. in English Language, B.A. in Philosophy and Public Affairs, B.A. in History and Diplomatic Studies, B.A. in Communication and Language Arts, B.Sc. in Psychology, B.Sc. in Economics, B.Sc. in Political Science, B.Sc. in Sociology, BSW in Social Work, BLIS in Library & Information Studies, B.Ed. in Counselling & Human Development, B.Ed. in Educational Management, B.Sc. in Computer Science, B.Sc. in Statistics, BNSc. in Nursing Science, and B.Ed. in Adult Education.

There are currently over 11,000 active students at the Distance Learning Centre at the University of Ibadan, and more than 801,000 graduates of the centre around the world. The centre's course offerings are delivered primarily through self-study with access to downloadable course materials; in-person or on-site interactive teaching sessions with adjunct or sessional instructors; virtual facilitation using online platforms; and physical examination of students using computer-based testing located at various centres in Ibadan and Lagos.
