UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY 16 AS DEADLINE FOR STUDENTS TO VACATE HOSTELS

As the 2024/2025 session comes to an end, the University of Ibadan announces the closure of the Undergraduate Halls of Residence.

According to an internal memo that was released on Wednesday 11th Feb 2026, the 2024/2025 academic session is scheduled to end on Monday, 16th Feb 2026 with a UI senate meeting. In line with this, all the Undergraduate Halls of Residence will be closed on the same day.

Students residing in the halls have been directed to vacate the premises with their belongings not later than 4PM, on Monday, 16 February 2026. The university also stated that fumigation of the halls will commence on 17 February 2026, making it mandatory for all residents to leave before the deadline.

The memorandum also stated that temporary accommodation will be provided for students on continuing programs such as Industrial Training, Teaching Practice and Practical Training. Kenneth Mellanby Hall and Queen Elizabeth II Hall will provide temporary accommodation for eligible students whose Dean of faculty has notified the Dean of students.

However, Students who are qualified for this arrangement MUST obtain an Authority-to-Pay from the Lodgings Unit at the Student Affairs Division. They are required to pay a fee of ₦300 per day into the designated account at UI Microfinance Bank. The payment covers a period of 16 days, from 17 February to 4 March 2026. After payment, students are expected to convert their bank teller to an official receipt at the Treasury Unit of the Bursary and present it at the Lodgings Unit.

Additionally, during the fumigation exercise, wardens of postgraduate halls have been advised to make temporary arrangements for residents whose academic programmes overlap sessions, including doctoral candidates and students on three-semester programmes.
