NAIOP 2026: UI TO HOST CONFERENCE ON INDUSTRIAL- ORGANISATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY IN AN AI-ENABLED SOCIETY

The Nigerian Association of Industrial and Organisational Psychologists (NAIOP) is set to hold its 2026 Annual Conference at the University of Ibadan, bringing together psychology professionals, workplace practitioners, researchers, and students from across the country.

The conference, themed "Industrial-Organisational Psychology in an AI-Enabled Society," seeks to examine the growing influence of artificial intelligence on workplaces and organisations. Discussions will explore the evolving relationship between humans and AI, as well as its implications for employee wellbeing and productivity, a discourse that could not be more timely given the increasing impact of AI on the world of work.

The event is scheduled to hold from June 2 to June 5, 2026, at the Dame Edith Okowa Auditorium, Alumni Guest House, University of Ibadan.

The conference is expected to attract professional psychologists, workplace experts, researchers, and both members and non-members of NAIOP.

Prospective paper presenters are required to complete their registration and make the necessary payments before participating in the conference's academic sessions.

Students of the Department of Psychology, as well as students from other departments within the Faculty of the Social Sciences, are strongly encouraged to attend. The conference presents a valuable opportunity to acquire a wealth of knowledge and gain first-hand insight into the profession by learning from seasoned scholars and practitioners who have devoted years to studying and advancing the field. It offers students the privilege of standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before them, drawing from their experiences, expertise, and contributions to the discipline.

Notably, attendance is free for students, making the conference an accessible platform for learning, professional exposure, and academic growth.

Given its national significance, the conference will be hosted by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, alongside the Dean of the Faculty of the Social Sciences, and co-hosted by the Head of the Department of Psychology, Professor A. I. Alarape.

As conversations around artificial intelligence continue to shape the future of work, the NAIOP 2026 Annual Conference is expected to provide critical insights into how Industrial-Organisational Psychology can contribute to building productive, ethical, and people-centred workplaces in an AI-enabled society.
